Returns

30-day return window on all devices, from delivery or handoff.

• Not as described / defective on arrival: full refund including shipping both ways, or immediate replacement. No restocking fee. This is on us.
• Changed your mind: refund of purchase price minus outbound shipping; buyer pays return shipping; up to 15% restocking fee only if the device comes back in worse condition than sent. Device must include everything in the box (cables, handoff card, Tails USB if included).
• Services (installs on your hardware): not returnable once performed, but covered by the 30-day install warranty — if it doesn't work as agreed, we fix it or refund the service fee.

How: message us through your account on the site (or your marketplace order number, if you bought elsewhere) with your order ID before shipping anything back. Local buyers can arrange drop-off.

Your data on a returned device: wiped to our full sanitization standard on receipt. If you set an encryption passphrase, your data was already unreadable to us — wipe it anyway before returning if you can (instructions on the handoff card).

Refund timing

Refunds issued to the original payment method within 5 business days of receiving the return. Cash purchases refunded in cash (local) or by check/transfer.

Terms of sale

1. What you're buying: used, refurbished hardware, honestly graded. Cosmetic condition is described and photographed per listing; the photos are of the actual unit.
2. Software: devices ship with free and open-source software. You own your hardware outright — root it, wipe it, modify it; that voids nothing except coverage for damage the modification itself causes.
3. Encryption disclosure: devices ship with full-disk encryption. Lose your passphrase and your data is gone — we cannot recover it and neither can anyone else. You accept this by purchasing.
4. GrapheneOS devices: verify authenticity with the Auditor app at handoff — we'll walk you through it. Bootloader ships re-locked.
5. No warranty of fitness for a particular purpose beyond what the listing states and the Warranty Policy covers. Hardened devices reduce risk; nothing eliminates it.
6. Marketplace purchases: eBay/platform buyer-protection terms apply alongside these; where they conflict, the platform's terms control on that platform.
7. Payment: PayPal, direct-to-wallet crypto, or cash (in person). Payment due before shipping or at handoff.
8. Disputes: talk to us first — message us, or email help@obsidiandevices.com. Most issues resolve in one message. Governing law: [STATE — to be finalized].
